About Us
Martin Family Farms is owned and operated by Jeff and Jean Martin and Doug and Erin Martin  of Mt. Pulaski, Ill. We raise corn and soybeans on several farms located throughout central Illinois.
Jeff and Jean were both raised on grain farms in rural Mt. Pulaski, and they both graduated from the Universtiy of Illinois with degrees in agricultural economics and finance. Throughout the years they have had a deep devotion and commitment to their family, their farm, and the agricultural community.
Jeff has been involved with countless civic, school and church  activities.  He has also been deeply involved with The Chicago Farmers, becoming the first ever "farmer" president to lead that organizatioin.  He has also been a member of the Advisory Council for the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago, and won numerous awards  including the Illinois Corn Growers Environmantal Action Award, No-Till Farmer Innovator of the Year,  and the 2006 Outstanding American Conservation Award from the Farm Service Agency.
Jean is also very active in agriculture and the community. She has served various local and church organizations along with the Mt. Pulaski Park District. She is one of the primary grain haulers in the fall along with keeping records and bookwork. During the winter months she is employed by FBFM.
Doug and Erin have been married for ten years this fall, and are in the process of raising three boys, Drew (6), Alec (3) and Luke(1).  Doug returned home to farm in 1998 after graduating from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho and completed a B S. in Agriculture Production.  Doug has been involved in various local and agricultural organizations. He was a 2004 graduate of The Illinois Ag Leadership Program, where he spent time in Washington D.C , China, Hong Kong, and India. Doug was also a graduate of the 2006 Cultivating Master Farmer Program. He is past chairman of the Land of Lincoln Soil Savers, and Mt. Pulaski FFA Alumni. He currently is a director for the Logan County Soil and Water Conservation District and a member of the Mt. Pulaski CUSD #23 school board.
Erin completed her degree from Lincolnland Community College and took a job with the State of Illinois. In 2005 she made the switch to be a full time mom. She is deeply devoted to raising the three kids. Although her time is limited for farm duties at this point, she still finds time to feed all of us in the busy season, and try to keep us moving from farm to farm. She also serves as a trustee for Lake Fork township in Logan County.
We also have some very important people that play a huge role in the success of our operation. Derek and Renee Martin which is Jeff's youngest son also live and work in Mt. Pulaski. Derek is the assistant manager for Elkhart Grain. Both of these individuals contribute in varoius ways throughout the year.
Jerry and Kathy Tschantz also play a key part in the day to day operations of the farm. Jerry has been employed by the Martin's for almost 15 years. He has an outstanding knowledge of the equipment, resources, and responsibilites that are involved in production agriculture.
